Training Cow Horses
I’m Gary Mitcham. I train and sell young cow horses. But because they have to be partners, I also match the horse to the rider. In my program, we teach customers to understand cows so they can read them and work together as a team with their horses. I instruct riders on using their legs to position the horse and move the cow where they want it to go. When my people ride like I’ve taught them to, they get to that winner’s circle. I love seeing them win on my horses.

Kind words from our customers.

“I hauled my sorting horse to Gary and Josh’s venue. The cattle were fresh, the facility was nice, and the instruction even better. I learned so much. Gary’s coaching style was very informative, encouraging, and professional. My horse and I showed immediate improvement. I am a total beginner. After just 1 lesson, I learned enough to place in the top 10 of every sorting event I entered, and I also pulled a check in my very first competition after his lesson. The feedback, accessibility, and follow up after the lesson has been outstanding. Josh even sent me videos of my lesson. I highly recommend it.”

“Gary has taught me so much in a short amount of time. He teaches horsemanship using my legs to ride, light with the reins, and how to read cattle. His techniques and guidance have given me a tremendous amount of confidence. He is honest and genuinely wants the people he teaches to be the best they can be. Not only is he an incredible horseman, but the horses he trains are solid. His years of experience, knowledge, and training program is the best. I can’t thank Gary and his training staff enough for all that you have taught me.”

“Gary has taught me to be a much better rider and horseman. The most significant technique I learned was taking the pressure off my feet in the stirrup and riding more with my legs to move the horse with more ease. I now rely more on my legs and less on my hands, which is less stressful on me and the horse! I’m looking forward to riding his 4-year-olds now!”
